MobiKwik has faced allegations of data leaks several times in a row this week. Many users have also complained about this, but the company continues to deny data leaks. According to media reports, sources said that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was not happy with the company’s initial response and has asked for immediate action in the matter.
According to media reports, RBI has ordered Mobikwik to appoint an external auditor to conduct forensic audit. In this case, if the violation is proved, a penalty can also be imposed. However, the RBI has not made any comment in this case. The RBI has the power to impose a minimum fine of Rs 500,000 ($ 6,811) to the payment system provider company in such cases.
At the same time, MobiKwik has not given any kind of response to the media. Earlier the company had said that, users upload their data on many different platforms. Therefore it is wrong to say that whatever data has been leaked is done by the payment company. The company also said that, it takes users’ privacy and security very seriously.
MobiKwik competes with companies such as Paytm and Google payment service providers with 120 million users in the country. Data leaking has become common in the country. On Wednesday, the New Delhi-based digital rights group Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) asked the country’s cyber security agency to investigate the alleged data breach.
